Granular is an easy-to-use Linux distribution targeted at the common desktop users. Granular is based on PCLinuxOS and comes as an installable livecd. The CD version of Granular features two desktop environments - KDE and Enlightenment (E17). Where KDE is a full-featured desktop environment, E17 is a light-weight DE which is quite faster than KDE.

Granular is aimed at ease of use and user-friendliness. As it comes as a livecd, there is no need of installing it to try it. The livecd can be booted off the CD itself and tried without even touching any content on the hard disk.

Through the various applications included in Granular, you can surf the internet, write articles, make presentations, chat with your friends, listen to music, play games, manage images and a lot, lot more...

Granular utilizes the PCLinuxOS repository and its own as well for software/package management. Granular's own repository was opened in March 2008, and since then, it has been a source of all Granular-specific RPM packages, some of which are not available in the PCLinuxOS repository.
